While we are strong advocates for home birth, we also believe every woman should have the ability to make an informed choice about where she gives birth. We are happy to provide personalized midwifery care for families planning either a home birth or a hospital birth.

During your complimentary phone consultation, we will discuss your plans for birth and which care option best fits your needs.

Your investment remains the same whether you are planning a home birth or hospital birth. The services included will vary based on your planned place of birth.

For families planning a home birth, your care includes comprehensive prenatal care throughout pregnancy, labor management and delivery in your home, immediate postpartum care, newborn care, and postpartum follow-up.

Your Home Birth Care Includes

Prenatal care throughout your pregnancy

Routine prenatal appointments in the office

One prenatal home visit during the third trimester

Labor management and attendance at your home birth

Immediate postpartum care

Newborn examination

Birth supplies

Postpartum home visit around 48 hours after delivery

Postpartum follow-up visits around 2 to 3 weeks and 6 weeks, as needed

Additional postpartum care through approximately 8 weeks, as needed

Filing of the birth certificate and Social Security card

Ultrasounds and laboratory testing are not included in the package fee.

Choosing to give birth in a hospital does not mean giving up the personalized, individualized care that comes with having a midwife.

For families planning a hospital birth, Circle of Life provides comprehensive prenatal care throughout pregnancy with longer appointments, individualized education, nutritional and supplement support, continuity of care, and preparation for delivery in the hospital.

Your Hospital Birth Care Includes

Comprehensive prenatal care throughout your pregnancy

Routine prenatal appointments with time for questions, education, nutrition, supplements, and preparation for birth

Ongoing maternal and fetal assessment

Discussion of recommended laboratory testing, genetic screening options, and ultrasounds throughout pregnancy

Individualized preparation for labor, birth, postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care

Preparation of your prenatal records for your hospital delivery

Support surrounding your hospital birth

Postpartum and breastfeeding support after you are discharged from the hospital

Postpartum follow-up care through approximately 8 weeks, as needed

During your pregnancy, we will discuss your plans for hospital delivery and how Circle of Life can support you throughout that experience.

Ultrasounds, laboratory testing, hospital charges, and services provided by outside physicians or hospital-based providers are not included in the package fee.

Circle of Life believes that financial circumstances should not always be the deciding factor in whether a family can access personalized midwifery care.

A limited number of partial scholarships may be available for qualifying families seeking either home birth care or personalized prenatal care while planning a hospital birth.

Scholarships are based on availability and individual circumstances and are not guaranteed. Families interested in being considered may request additional information during their consultation.
